Because Diabetes Is Daily — Gluvi Helps Make It Lighter
Managing Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong journey. Gluvi emerged from a deeply personal moment in a real family, following the unexpected diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes in one child — the first and only diagnosis in our family’s history.
Very early on, it became clear that Type 1 modern diabetes therapy is inherently data-driven — shaped by continuous glucose measurements, therapy inputs, and everyday routines such as counting meal carbohydrates.
Within the family, this reality met a strong background in data science and statistics, along with a deep affinity for working with data in a research-oriented way. The growing volume of health data revealed both the complexity of daily therapy and an untapped opportunity: using data more intelligently to support decisions, reduce mental load, and better understand individual patterns.
What began as a moment of uncertainty gradually became a mission — to create better, more thoughtful solutions for living with Type 1 diabetes every day.
Gluvi grew from this intersection of lived family experience and analytical expertise. It is an ongoing effort to responsibly explore how modern AI and data-driven methods can support diabetes therapy and extend the scope of digital care. By combining real-world health data, statistical thinking, and modern AI approaches, Gluvi aims to complement established medical treatment — offering a platform for patients and families navigating life with T1D and seeking less stress, more clarity, and greater confidence in daily care.

What Gluvi Helps With Today
The upcoming beta version of Gluvi focuses on practical tools you need every day:
- Carb calculation with a trusted database
Gluvi uses an official nutrition database (currently German-labeled) with more than 1,500 validated foods from the Swiss Nutrition Office, so carb calculations are transparent and reproducible. - Your own personal food library
You can add your own food items to a personal database that reflects the way you and your child actually eat — not just textbook examples. - Recipes with automatic carb per portion
Build recipes once, and let Gluvi calculate the carbs per portion for you. Perfect for family meals that appear on the table again and again. - Prepare and “park” meals for later
Pre-calculate carbs for meals in advance — for school, activities, or trips — and keep them “parked” in the app until they’re needed. - Medical appointments, organized
Manage medical appointments with reminders and optional sync to your personal calendar, so important check-ups and follow-ups don’t disappear in the daily chaos. - Care events with reminders
Document important care events (e.g. dose changes, illness days, special situations) and set reminders for follow-up actions. - Checklists for real life
Create or adapt checklists for school, travel, and daily routines – to make sure nothing essential is forgotten when life gets busy.
All of this is built with data protection and medical seriousness in mind, so that sensitive health-related information is handled carefully and securely.
Where We’re Heading: From Reactive to Proactive Support
Despite major progress with CGM and automated insulin delivery (AID), most current treatments still react after blood glucose has already changed. This naturally limits how much we can further improve Time in Range (TIR).
We believe that AI-driven prediction and decision support can be a game-changer — but only if it is done responsibly.
Gluvi’s first step is to structure and standardize the data around meals, care events, routines, and context. In a second step, this foundation will enable us to train diabetes-specific AI models that aim to:
- anticipate potential issues earlier,
- support better, more consistent decisions, and
- ultimately help to optimize Time in Range over the long run.
We are fully aware that there are important scientific, technical, and ethical challenges still to be solved. Our approach is therefore careful, evidence-informed, and always meant to support — not replace — the expertise of people living with diabetes and their clinical teams.
Join Us as an Early Test User
We are currently preparing the beta version of Gluvi and are looking for people who would like to grow with us.
If you are interested in becoming one of our early test users and contributing practical, constructive feedback, we would be happy to provide you with a test account.
Your real-world experience is exactly what we need to make Gluvi genuinely helpful for:
- parents managing T1D with their children,
- young people taking over more of their own care, and
- adults who want a more structured, less stressful way to handle daily diabetes tasks.

A Call to Scientists & Researchers
Beyond early users, we warmly welcome scientists, clinicians, and research groups interested in exploring data-driven approaches to diabetes care.
If you are working on prediction models, digital biomarkers, behavioral insights, or new methodologies in diabetes research, we would be delighted to discuss potential research projects and scientific collaborations.
Gluvi aims to become a platform where real-world data, clinical insight, and responsible AI come together — and we believe that strong partnerships with the scientific community are essential to achieving this.
If you are interested in collaborating, please reach out. We would be happy to connect with you.
